Obituary of Barbara A. French

Barbara A. French, 80, of 13th Street, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy on Monday, October 30, 2017.
Born and educated in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Emma Fountain Bauer and the beloved wife of the late Richard H. French.
Mrs. French retired from the New York State Department of Labor in Albany where she had been employed for 35 years.
Barbara enjoyed the years that she was a member of the Alpha Bowling League, attending the Schaghticoke Fair as well as other fairs, never would miss a Demolition Derby, loved stock car racing, fishing, her cats and dogs and faithfully watching "Days of Our Lives".
Survivors include her daughter Jennifer French (Mark Kehn) of Troy, son Mark Perry of Watervliet, her grandchildren, Matthew (Joanne) Kehn, Carrie (Shawn Palmer) Kehn, Michael Kehn, Mark Perry II, Christina Bradford, Sara Strack and Brandon Perry, her brothers Carl Bauer, Paul Bauer and Raymond Grimes, also survived by aunts, uncles, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many close friends.
She will now be with her mother Emma Bauer, her father Frederick George Bauer, her son Leslie Perry, her sisters Nancy Hupe and Carol Sfara, her brother Frederick George Bauer.
Our family will always love and cherish "Our Rock". She was loved by many, will never be forgotten and will be very missed.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (corner of 115th St. in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Noon which will be followed by her Funeral Service that will begin at Noon in the funeral home and be officiated by long-time and dear family friend, Deacon MacArthur Henderson and Joanne Minnifield who will lead everone in "Amazing Grace".                    The family has asked that in keeping with Barbara's informal manner and ways, that casual attire be worn.
Interment will follow in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, 51 Belle Avenue, Troy, NY 12182.
Barbara's family would like to thank the staff at Samaritan Hospital as well as all their family and friends for their loving, caring and compassionate support. A special Thank You to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. as well. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to all of you with our love.                                                                                                                                 Her family would like those who are able to join them at the Cohoes American Legion Post, 93 Oneida St., Cohoes, NY 12047 to continue celebrating Barbara's life at a reception in her honor from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. following the services at the cemetery. The Sanvidge Funeral Home will also make this known to those in attendance at the conclusion of the services in the funeral home as well as at the Elmwood Hill Cemetery following the committal prayers at the graveside on Friday.
