Dear Sensei, What words may your Sempai now give with certainty? I no longer have you to sit with in counsel. I sit now, not with men, but with the loons of your lake. Still longer do I sit with my dogs, in the trees of my forest. For so long I have a questioned death, asking my peers and teachers, only to fine vague and nebulous learnings. Your passing has left me empty and confused. In my gardens and animals I hear “Only for a little while, will I be in the dust and mist. Only a little while will the water carry me, only a little while, then another woman shall bear me. Only for a little while, and if my words were not clear, then I will come again, and clearer will be my words. If these things are vague and nebulous fear not for all life and its answers, begins in the vague and nebulous. Answer not their questions with certainty; for the wise teacher asked not for for his students to bask in the glory of his wisdom; rather go forth with love, kindness, and strength, showing them how we lived.”
