Obituary of Lawrence G. Riberdy
Lawrence “Larry” G. Riberdy, 83, of Richfield Street, died suddenly on Thursday Feb. 9, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy. Larry was born in Cohoes, NY on April 28, 1933 and was the son of the late Lawrence and Irene Peat Riberdy. He was educated in the Cohoes School system. He was a US Navy veteran having served honorably from 1950 – 1954. Larry retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers in Troy where he was a member of the engineering crew for over 25 years. Earlier, he was a machinist for Weber’s Machine Shop in Troy. He was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh. Larry loved his camp, “Rib’s Ridge” on the Great Sacandaga. Family time was very important Larry. He loved his grand kids, doing his daily cross word puzzles and taking vacation trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
He is the beloved husband of Kathleen A. Mahar Riberdy, who he married on Feb. 15, 1958; the devoted father of Kathleen M (John) Weidman and Eileen S. (George) Bronson both of Delmar, NY; brother of Neil (Carol) Riberdy of Dolgeville, NY and the late Esther Bluteau, Francis Riberdy, and Jeanne Roberts; cherished grandfather of Nichole Bronson, Joseph L. Bronson, Jaime (Michael) Platt and Kelly Weidman; great grand father to Aubrey and Addelynn Platt; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 8: 45 from the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. Corner of 115th. Street & 4th. Avenue in Lansingburgh thence to St. Augustine’s Church where at 9:30 the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Calling hours will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday in the funeral home.
Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Troy.
