
Obituary of Eileen H. Duncan
Eileen H. Duncan, 76, of Speigletown (Town of Schaghticoke) beloved wife for 30 years to Charles W. “Charlie” “Chuck” Duncan, entered into eternal life on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy following a long illness.
Born in Albany, New York, she was the daughter of the late Helen C. Steede (late, John P. Rasmussen, Jr.) and the late James Manning. She was a graduate of St. Augustine’s School in Lansingburgh and Catholic Central High School in Troy.
Mrs. Duncan retired after over 30 years from the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services in Troy where she had been Supervisor, Principal Social Welfare Examiner. She had also been employed part-time at Bon-Ton and Boscov’s department stores.
Eileen was very proud of her Irish heritage and had been a member of the North Albany American Legion Post #1610 Ladies Auxiliary and the North Albany Limerick Association. She loved having her family up to camp on the Sacandaga for over 25 years where they enjoyed each other’s company as well as all aspects of boating. Eileen was a communicant of Transfiguration Parish (formerly St. Bonaventure’s Church) in Speigletown and St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh.
Eileen is the beloved wife to Charles, devoted mother of David P. (Kelly) Connell, Jr., cherished grandmother to David P. Connell, III and Christopher G. Connell and the stepsister to Kathleen (Allen) Gough.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and to her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh.
Interment will be held in St. John’s Cemetery, Lansingburgh.
Eileen’s family wishes to thank all of her caregivers while she was at the Samaritan Hospital as well as to those who have offered their assistance to Charlie, since Eileen was being cared for in the hospital, in particular to Theresa Spain and Kathryn “Kathy” Vavasour, who Eileen grew up with.
