



Obituary of Ronald J. Phibbs, Sr.
Ronald J. Phibbs Sr., 78, of Mechanicville and formerly of Colonie, beloved husband of Rita DeLessio Phibbs, entered into eternal life on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany after a long illness.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late James and Jennie Swan Phibbs and was a graduate of Albany High School.
Mr. Phibbs was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and had been awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 1960, 2 Army Overseas Bars and his Honorable Discharge.
Ronald’s greatest enjoyment was being surrounded by his family’s love and laughter. His eyes would light up with joy when playing with his grandchildren and his great grandchild beyond measure. He also found joy in fishing, playing baseball, watching old time movies and spending time with his wife.
He had been a member of the V.F.W. and Colonie Elks Club.
Ron retired from CDTA where he had been a Bus Driver in Albany for 28 years.
Beloved husband to Rita, devoted father to Tamara A. Kozakiewicz, Ronald J. Phibbs, Jr. (Nora Shea) and James Phibbs, cherished grandfather of Justin Eben (Cassidy MacDonald), Victoria Eben (Frank Acker II) and Briana Phibbs, adored great grandfather of Jakob, brother of William, Harry, Patsy, Ruth, Beverly and the late James and Robert, also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited his interment with military honors on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. , Schuylerville, NY 12871. Those attending are asked to assemble just inside the cemetery entrance in the far right lane between 12:40 p.m. and 12:55 p.m.)

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
