I had the honor of meeting Steve 2 years ago, he was a man of great humor who loved our rides, lunches and peanut butter ice cream. You and your family will always be a part of me. I am sorry for your loss, just know he will always be with you.

Stevie was my childhood friend first and foremost. He was always kind and sweet. No drama, just fun. I missed him so much in the summer when he went away for long road trips and camping. The Pruyn Hill gang just wasn’t the same when he was gone.
As we got older, instead of riding bikes, playing catch and hide and go seek; we switched to skiing, boating and going on vacations. And the friendship just grew stronger. Stevie simply lit up a room. He made you smile and feel good. Somewhere along those years, Stevie became my brother as well as my friend. We celebrated many milestones together. He loved my parents, husband and children as if they were family and I love his beautiful wife Janet like a sister and Emily and Ian as a niece and nephew.
There is so much I admire about my dear friend Stevie. I admire his strength, intelligence, integrity, sense of humor and adventure, style and grace. But above all, Stevie will be remembered for his kindness and love for his family and friends and how he made everyone feel. Loved.
Until we meet again,
Suzanne Choopani

We are saddened to hear of Steve’s passing. Shannon met Steve while working at NY Life and was so appreciative of Steve’s willingness to come along side a new agent and share his wisdom and expertise. Our children were in school together and we saw firsthand Steve and Janet’s love of family and community in all that they did. Steve always had a smile on his face and his love of life was evident in the joy that bright smile radiated. Heartfelt condolences to Janet, Emily and Ian.

I met Steve at Oswego State, when I moved onto the 7th floor of Hart Hall. He was kind, funny and his smile would light up the room! We had a GREAT group of friends from our floor and we have all remained friends through the years.
My heart goes out to Janet and family. As you continue to live life, always remember the wonderful memories you shared with Steve. He will be greatly missed.

There is a unique and wonderful quality of gentlemen who grew up in Mechanicville and entered the business world. It is evident in their integrity and dedication to a higher purpose. The Grey family exemplifies that and so much more. Stephen brought great joy to the lives of many. Janet, Dan and the entire Grey family, I want to thank you so very much for being such wonderful friends.

I knew Steve’s Mom and Dad first. When Steve came to New York Life we had many good times in the “Bull Pen” and at Club meetings. Steve was always smiling and laughing, just a fun guy.
Janet I am so sorry for the loss of the love of your life and best friend and truly a great guy! May God bring you strength during the difficult time.

We remember the first time Steve came down to West Babylon and met the family. You could tell he was a bit nervous but maintained the “bewilderment “ smile. That wonderful smile never left. A true gentlemen, great husband and father. A fantastic brother in-law with a classy taste for clothes(although I never understood the sweater tied around his neck!)
Loved him. Bless Janet, Emily and Ian

Janet as you know by now, growing up in Mechanicville was a unique experience for all of us. Though I wasn’t close with Steve I knew him - as we knew everybody in school. We all grieve with you. I hope you and the kids can remember the good things and happy times. And he will live on in your kids. Sending hugs.

Sending our love and sympathy on the loss of our dearest friend, Steve! How lucky were we to have had Steve and Janet by our side throughout the many years raising our families together in Clifton Park and then following each other to our downsized lifestyle in Saratoga and winter escapades in Sarasota! And, for Bill, who had the pleasure of growing up with Steve in Mechanicville, he will be missed beyond words. We will never look at an Adirondack chair, a Tommy Bahama beach chair, a shot of Scotch, Gore or Willard Mountains, a good Italian meatball, white water rafting, dancing to “Love Shack” and our IRAs without thinking of Steve.

It is with a heavy heart that I wish to convey my deepest sympathy to Janet, Emily, Ian, and Steve's siblings. I will always remember all our wonderful times together in the 60 years that we knew one another. From our wonderful childhood on Pruyn Hill, through our teenage years, adulthood, and my many years working for Steve. I will truly miss him.
