
Obituary of Ruthy Duncan
Marilyn Ruth “Ruthy” Duncan, 83, of Brunswick, entered into eternal life at home on Friday, May 16, 2025.
Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Mildred Hinman Maxwell and was educated and a graduate of the Berlin Central Schools. She was the beloved wife for over 52 years to Leonard W. “Lenny” Duncan, Sr. who passed away on January 20, 2014.
Mrs. Duncan, known to all as “Ruth” assisted her family in the daily operation of Duncan’s Dairy Farm in Brunswick. She also raised her four loving children and had been employed by the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services in Troy prior to leaving the workplace to raise her four loving children.
Ruth loved going to the casino, camping, travelling, all animals and was an avid crafter. She had been a member of the Brunswick Elks Ladies Auxiliary.
Devoted mother “Mom” of Leonard W. “Lenny” (fiancé, Rita Babie) Duncan, Jr., John R. “Jack” (Laurie) Duncan, Linda E. Duncan and Todd M. (Kathy) Duncan, cherished grandmother “Gramma” to Katherine (Ryan) Kerr, Joshua J. Duncan, Grace E. (Michael) Mancucci, Samantha R. (Garth) Geritz, Todd M. (Tessa) Duncan, Jr., Kayley E. Duncan and Ashley M. Duncan, adored great grandmother “GG” to Bennett, Rylan, Rowan and Blair Duncan and to Makai Mancucci, baby sister of the late Robert H. “Bob” (late, Doris) Maxwell, the late Kenneth (Dorothy) Maxwell, the late Jack (late, Peggy) Maxwell and the late Anne (late, Theodore) Johnston, also survived by her sister-in-law Joyce Boomhower Duncan.
Family and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and to the Funeral Service that day at 11:00 a.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182.
Interment will follow in Eagle Mills Cemetery.
