Obituary of Carmen Maria Fernandez

Carmen Maria Sanchez Fernandez, 72, of Troy, beloved companion of the late David Lozano, peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, July 5, 2025 surrounded by her loving children at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

Born and educated in Patillas, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Epifano Gual and Ana Sanchez.

Carmen loved watching her favorite Soap Operas and was always listening to singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel. She was an accomplished cook, food preparer and loved eating. Most of all, Carmen loved all of her family above everything else.

Devoted mother of Yolanda Sanchez, Rebecca Rosa and Francisco Rosa, sister to Juan Antonio Gual, Jenny Gual Arroyo, Sandro Medina, Luis Medina and Orlando Santiago, cherished grandmother of Oris Fernandez, Kiara Pirela, Aramis Pirela, Humberto Pirela, Xsavier Pirela, Stephanie Alicea and Davilies Sanchez, adored great grandmother of Serenity Stokes, Faith BonaParte, Javier Fernandez, Dominic Fernandez, Humberto Pirela, Jr., Savieliz Pirela, Garieliz Pirela, Anika Pirela and Amira Pirela, also survived by several nieces, nephews and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street, Troy, NY 12180 where at 3:00 p.m. her funeral service will begin and those present will be invited to offer any reflections or share their memories that they have of Carmen.

Carmen’s family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to everyone from the ICU at Samaritan Hospital for everything that they did above and beyond their expectations. We can never thank you enough for all of these efforts and your loving care.
