Obituary of Steven J. Proctor

Steven J. “Steve” Proctor, 70, of Halfmoon, beloved husband for over 51 years to Helen M. Doran Proctor, peacefully entered into eternal life at home on Friday, August 29, 2025.

Born in Cohoes, NY, he was the son of the late John and Shirley Sicko Proctor and was a graduate of Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park.

Steve’s lifelong career as an accomplished craftsman and framer meant that he built many houses, including having to take a trip to Japan which was the only time he flew on an airplane. His most prized build was the camp on Lake Champlain. It was his pride and joy. Steve was a believer in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He is now absent from the body and present with the Lord.

Steve loved his family fiercely, cared about his friends immensely, especially his cousin Debbie. He loved music and had a song for everything. He taught himself how to play guitar and entertained everyone his whole life. He was an avid race car fan, especially when his brother John raced at Albany Saratoga Speedway.

Beloved husband to Helen, devoted father of Shannon (Damon) Proctor, Jason Proctor and the late Steven J. Proctor who passed in 1993, brother of Wayne (Nancy) Proctor, Rick (Derrie) Proctor, Keith Proctor, Patty (late, Patrick) Daignault, the late, Linda (late, Donald) Wright and the late John (Vicki) Proctor, cherished grandfather of Tyler, Laci, Dominic, Jake and Shawn, also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065 on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. where at 6:30 p.m. there will be a Funeral Service offered by Pastor Matt Eachus.

You are also invited to the graveside service which will be held the following day (Friday) at Noon at Waterford Rural Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation would be appreciated to The Church at Newtown Road (write "Youth Ministry" in the memo of your check, please) 142 Lower Newtown Rd., Waterford, NY 12188, in memory of Steven J. Proctor.
