Obituary of Judith M. Johansen

Judith Metcalf Johansen, 86, of Ballston Lake (Town of Clifton Park), peacefully passed away surrounded by and in the loving care of her family at home on Monday, October 20, 2025.

Born in Kane, PA, she was the daughter of the late Darold and Lottie Moore Metcalf. She was a graduate of Wellsville High School in Wellsville, NY and then earned her Master’s Degree from the NYS Teacher’s College, currently SUNY Albany.

Mrs. Johansen was a High School Teacher in Melbourne, FL and later was a Substitute Teacher with the Schenectady City School District.

Judith was very proud to have served as TOPS area captain for many years while in her 50’s. Her hobbies, interests, attributes, etc. included crafting, spending time with her family, genealogy and she loved all things Harry Potter. She enjoyed travelling and loved Hawaii.

Judith was the beloved wife for 55 years to Richard B. Johansen until his passing in 2016.

Devoted mother of Laura (Eric Johnson) Johansen, Kristi (David) Santeramo, and Stephen (Erin) Johansen, loving sister of Joseph (Deborah) Metcalf, and Catherine (Nelson) Todd, cherished “Gramma” to Douglas (Jackie) Santeramo, Glynnis (Andrew Derby) Santeramo, Charlotte (Zachary) Mitchell and Lillianna (Charlie Leary) Johansen, adored “Great Gramma” to Elliott and Kinsley, also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065 on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 10 am to 12 pm. Calling Hours will be followed by a Funeral Service at 12 pm at the funeral home.

Interment will be held in Jonesville Cemetery.
