Obituary of Brian Daniel Campbell

Brian Daniel Campbell, 51, beloved husband for 11 years to Kiera M. Davis Campbell, entered into eternal life surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at NY Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Hospital in Manhattan, three months after a successful liver transplant. Unfortunately, Brian suffered from various infections and other complications that he was unable to overcome.

Brian was born at Albany Medical Center, on September 3, 1974, Brian was the son of Eleanor Vautrin Campbell and the late Daniel X. Campbell. He was a graduate of LaSalle Institute, Class of 1992 and Siena College, Class of 1996, where he earned his BA in Psychology.

Brian was a Senior Workers’ Compensation Examiner at the NYS Workers’ Compensation Board in Schenectady and had previously been at their Menands office. Prior to working for the NYS Workers’ Compensation Board, he worked for NYS OCFS Human Services Call Center as a Supervisor. Before working for NYS Brian worked with the developmentally disabled at various agencies throughout the Capital Region for over 20 years. Brian also worked as a Youth Minister at various churches in the Albany Diocese including Corpus Christi in Clifton Park, St. Mary’s and St. Patrick’s in Troy.

When Brian wasn’t working, he enjoyed cooking and baking for his family and friends. He was always the first one to offer help to his family, friends, and coworkers. Brian enjoyed doing crafts and giving them as gifts to those he loved.  An avid reader, Brian loved interesting trivia and fun facts. He loved movies and anything Star Wars or Disney. He loved decorating for Christmas and had an extensive collection of Santa Claus figurines from around the world. 

In addition to his wife Kiera and his mother Eleanor, Brian is survived by his brother Collin Campbell (Jane) and niece Lillian of Pine Bush, NY, his sister Heather Campbell (Abby) of Waterford, NY, his father-in-law Jeffrey Davis of Troy, NY and his brother-in-law Tadd Akley (Amanda Marie) of Johnstown, NY. He is also survived by his nephews Jacob, Jack, Oliver, and Colt Akley. In addition he also leaves behind his very special dog Princess Leia who he loved like a child.

Brian’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Drs. Russell Rosenblatt, Juan Rocca, and Benjamin Samstein and the entire Liver Team from NY Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center as well as nurses Joshua Springer, Austin Zmolek, Sabrina Padilla, and Avelee Bautista and all those who work in the SICU at the Medical Center for the incredible care given to Brian and his entire family throughout this difficult process.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Brian’s life with his family on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at United Church of Cohoes, 123 Mohawk St., Cohoes, NY 12047.  There will be a luncheon following the service at the Knights of Columbus located at 76 Grace St.  Waterford, NY.

Memorial contributions in memory of Brian D. Campbell may be made to Paws in Paradise in Mechanicville, NY and/or the Regional Food Bank in Latham, NY.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by Brian’s family to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue, Troy, NY 12182.
