Obituary of Eric L. Franklin
On December 29, 2025, Eric L. Franklin, 59, of Troy peacefully entered eternal life surrounded by love and will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, and passion for family and community.
Eric was a devoted sports enthusiast and a lifelong fan of the New York Knicks and the New York Yankees. One of his greatest joys was bowling; at one time, he proudly belonged to three bowling leagues, a pastime that reflected both his competitive spirit and love of camaraderie. He was also an avid fisherman who found peace and enjoyment on the water.
Eric was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ruby D. Edwards.
He is survived by his brothers, William D. Franklin and Rodney L. Middleton (Aric); his daughters, Makenzie Victoria, Elie Franklin, Breanna Miller, and Erica Harrell (Jared) and her two sons Owen and Miles; his sons, Tyler Franklin and Rayquan Franklin; his grandsons, Messiah and Jaziel Franklin; his granddaughters, Aniyla and Niyayla Williams and his best friends; Woody Wilson and Willie Hill. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street), Lansingburgh, Troy, NY 12182, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Home Going Service with Reflections will begin at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, New York.
Eric’s family extends their sincere appreciation to Joe Albertson for his generosity, kindness, and support during this difficult time.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Eric’s memory to the Troy Boys & Girls Club.
