Obituary of Carol A. McLaughlin
CAROL A. MCLAUGHLIN
Carol Ann Ryan McLaughlin, 83, of Saratoga Springs, peacefully entered eternal life surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Born in the Bronx, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine Carlos Ryan.
Carol dedicated more than 25 years of her life in a profession she loved as a Medical Office Manager in the healthcare field.
Her passion for fashion and flair for finding great deals inspired her to pursue a second career, leading her to open her own Consignment Shop, Echo’s in Yorktown Heights, NY. After many successful years, she retired to Saratoga County, to enjoy the next chapter of her life.
Before entering the workforce, Carol devoted her time to raising her three children as a stay-at-home mother. Additionally, she served as a “surrogate mom” to many of their friends, fostering relationships that continued throughout their lives.
Carol had an incredible flair for fashion shopping primarily in consignment and thrift shops, always finding just the right item that turned her outfit into a timeless classical look. She also loved browsing through flea markets where she'd find treasured pieces to add to her beautifully decorated home, especially anything with sunflowers - her favorite flower.
She loved art, dancing, reading, gardening and especially playing games with her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed watching tennis and could give you stats on any of the major players. Carol was curious by nature, which turned into a life-long passion for learning. She was always fascinated by the brain and could talk for hours about its complexities. As a passionate reader she was always searching for books that could further her knowledge and understanding of life and the mysteries it held.
Devoted mother of Joseph McLaughlin (Saratoga, NY) Kathleen McLaughlin, (Albany, NY) and Michael McLaughlin (Mt. Kisco, NY), loving sister of Maureen (late, Bert) Robinson, John (Mary Beth) Ryan, Nora Vergis, Catherine (Bernard), Ryan, Margaret (Joseph) Kelley and Ann Marie (Richard) Scott, also survived and was tremendously loved by many nieces, great nieces and nephews, cousins and their families.
Mass of Christian Burial and local Celebration of Life for Carol will take place on April 8, 2026, 12noon at Blessed Sacrament Chapel in Ft. Montgomery, NY
Though Carol will be deeply missed, her love, laughter, and kindness will remain forever in all of our hearts. Per her wishes Carol’s ashes will be privately attended to at a later date.
Carol’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the sympathy and support they have received during this difficult time. They are especially thankful to Dr. Adamo, as well as the nursing staff and team at Albany Medical Center, for their exceptional compassion and attentive care provided to Carol.
Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to St. Jude’s, the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Ln., Latham, NY or the charity of one's choice in memory of Carol A. McLaughlin.
