Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth Dickson
Margaret Elizabeth Dickson, 79, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026.
Born on January 16, 1947, at Leonard Hospital in Lansingburgh, New York, Margaret was the beloved daughter of the late Rose (Dell) Dickson and Donald Dickson. She was predeceased by her sisters, Donna Grignon and Linda Hornauer.
Margaret devoted many years of her life to serving others as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Van Rensselaer Manor in Troy — a profession she truly loved. Caring for others was more than a job; it was her calling. She offered comfort, compassion, and dignity to those entrusted to her care, forming meaningful connections with residents and their families that lasted well beyond her working years.
Her greatest pride and joy was her family. She is survived by her loving sons, Brian O’Connell and his wife, Jeanna O’Connell, and William Foley Jr.; her cherished grandchildren, Mayson O’Connell, Jase O’Connell, Natalie O’Connell, and Charlotte Foley; her brother, Jim Dickson; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind dear friends — especially Lucy, Penny, and the many others who lovingly cared for her during her time in the nursing home.
Margaret will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering dedication to helping others, and the deep love she held for her family. She touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and devotion.
