Obituary of Paul J. Hayes
Paul J. Hayes Sr., 71, a lifelong resident of Lansingburgh, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, after bravely enduring a long journey with cancer.
Paul was a man who found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. A talented chef by trade, he had a true passion for cooking and spent many years doing what he loved. He was well known in the Lansingburgh community for his long-time work at the Veteran’s Club, where he shared not only his skill in the kitchen, but also his friendship, humor, and generous spirit with so many.
Paul loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending his time fishing and hunting. Whether he was preparing a meal for loved ones, casting a line, or sharing stories with friends, he lived with a deep appreciation for life and the people around him.
He is survived by his son, Paul Hayes II, his daughters, Amber Hayes and Megan Huang (Andrei), his grandson Mason Huang, his first love, Kathryn Hayes, his brother Maurice Hayes, his nephew Martin Hayes, Jr., his niece Delyn Guthrie, his great nephews Lance and Greyson Guthrie and his closest friend, Michael Guenette.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Leake Hayes Rogers and Martin Hayes Sr.; his brothers, William Hayes Sr., his beloved brother Victor Hayes, and his brother Martin Hayes Sr. and his cherished friend, Jimmy Lanteigne.
Paul will be remembered for his strength throughout his illness, his love of family, his passion for cooking, his hardworking nature, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Relatives and friends are invited to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 for Visitation on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m.
