Obituary of Dominick DeLorio

Dominick DeLorio, 100, passed away on July 13, 2026.        

He was born in Syracuse, NY on March 8, 1926 to Lucia DePasquale and Nicholas DeLorio.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1943 at the age of 17 and served until 1946. He was shot in the head during the Battle of Okinawa and received the Purple Heart. He carried the metal from the bullet and his helmet embedded in his head for the rest of his life. He was a proud member of the 1st Marine Division Association.

He was lifelong mechanic and will be remembered for his ability to fix just about anything. In his retirement years he enjoyed traveling in his RV, attending 1st Marine Division reunions and traveling all over the world to visit his grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, his three sisters Rachel Louise DeLorio (Sinopoli), Mary DeLorio, and Dora DeLorio (Lauro) and by his three brothers Louis DeLorio, Angelo Raphael (Ralph) DeLorio and Michael DeLorio.

He is survived by his son, Dominick DeLorio, Jr., stepdaughter Patricia Pidgeon, stepson Francis Haley, stepson Stephen Bishop, grandson Benjamin DeLorio, granddaughter Elizabeth DeLorio, and four great grandchildren Carina DeLorio, Isadora (Izzy) DeLorio, Henry Jaime and Charlie Jaime.

He will be interned at the Saratoga National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with full military honors.
