Obituary of John E. Salmon, Sr.
John Edward Salmon, Sr., 80, formerly of Troy, passed away in his sleep at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, MA on Saturday, November 12, 2016.
Born on October 29, 1936 in Glens Falls, New York, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Georgia Primeau Salmon.
Mr. Salmon served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was bestowed the National Defense Service Medal.
On March 17, 1957, he married Ruth Helen (Sayers) Salmon in Troy, New York and survives.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and long drives.
Mr. Salmon owned and operated John Salmon Contracting.
Devoted father of Tammy Camp (Kurt) of Newark, OH, Sabrina Salmon (Aaron Stoner) of Troy, NY and John E. Salmon, Jr., also of Troy and the late Debra Ann Salmon, brother of Sherry Leombruno of Clifton Park, NY, Margaret Bannin of Glens Falls, NY and the late Charles Salmon, Mary Lessard, Betty Jane Merolla and Patsy Howes, also survived by 5 grandchildren; Amber Salmon, Justin Salmon, Nicholas Vertucci, Zachary Camp and Sarah Camp, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, New York 12182.
Relatives and friends are invited any may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Burial with military honors will be held in Eagle Mills Cemetery.
