To Bob Bennett's Family,
I knew Bob for at least 60 years. I was always thrilled when his truck pulled in at our
family farm in Latham. I couldn't wait to see what animals he had for sale. My dad
bought/sold/traded with Bob. Although we had many types of animals on the farm,
I always wanted a lamb. I clearly remember the day Bob showed up with a lamb
under his arm, but he did not hand it to me. He explained how the lamb would be a
magnet to dogs - and could I live with finding it torn to pieces one day? He let it be my
decision - and I sadly said no. 20 years later, I am now married - two daughters and we
we have our own farm. Bob taught us how to harness and drive our
first Haflinger (like a mini Belgian) and we bought an antique wagon from him.
I continued to see Bob at least twice a year at the Nicholas Church Flea Mkt, next
to Guptills. I did not know that September 2019 would be the last time I would see him.
I am so sorry for your loss. Bob touched my life in so many ways.
We are now snowbirds and have a small horse farm in Florida - my thoughts will be with
you.
