Obituary of Gerolene E. Snavely

Gerolene (Gerry) E. Snavely entered through the gates of Heaven on December 24, 2016. She was 95 years old and was currently residing at Saratoga Center Nursing Home in Ballston Spa, NY. Gerry was pre-deceased by her angelic husband, C. R. (Nick) Snavely, her beloved brother Emery B. Green Jr. and his wife Jackie, and by her parents, Ethel L. Green Beyerback and Emery B. Green. Gerry is survived by her daughter, Deborah S. Lumia, her son-in-law, Rick Lumia, and her grandson, Jalen N. Lumia. She is also survived by her nephews, Gary B. Green (Fran), Orren Snavely (Marilyn), and Kenneth Snavely (Marlene), plus several other family members and her life-long friend, Betty Borders and her dear friend, Eileen Nobs. Gerry spent most of her life in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from Riverview Gardens High School, she completed Business School Training and held positions as Executive Secretary and Office Manager. After the birth of her daughter, she became a cashier at her old High School Cafeteria for the next 41 years. Gerry was a dynamic, athletic, energetic, intelligent, spiritual, and efficient individual at home, church, and in the workforce. She had a beautiful soprano singing voice and sang in church choirs for more than 50 years. She was an expert at knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She read several books a month and was avid expert in crossword puzzles. Her energy and capabilities were limitless. Gerry also loved to travel and visited nearly every U.S. State, as well as Mexico and Canada. During her life, Gerry was a dedicated Christian who taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Training Union. When able, she attended church services each week her entire life. She studied the Holy Bible and read it through several times. In 2000, Gerry moved to Malta, NY to be near her daughter and her family. Gerry now resides in the arms of God. No services are currently planned and internment will be with her husband in St. Louis, Missouri. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
