Obituary of James G. Kring, DDS, F.A.G.D.

James G. Kring, DDS, F.A.G.D. of The Villages, FL, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017. He was born November 19, 1935 at the Firemen's Home in Hudson, NY. He was the son of Helen and Ira Kring. He was a graduate of Hamilton College in Clinton, NY and went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry. He practiced in Albany, NY for 47 years during which he received his F.A.G.D. Degree. Dr Michael Pasquali joined the practice in 1989 and continues to practice in the same location. Jim was predeceased by his loving wife Ruth Cross Kring, daughter Kimberlee Spangler, and sister Hope Prior. He is survived by his daughter, Denise Colman (Michael) of Beverly, MA, his brother Ralph, his sister Elaine Katt, and 7 grandchildren; Christi, Ali, Nicholas, and Megan Colman, and Ruth, Christopher, and Benjamin Spangler all who affectionately knew him as "Bumpa," and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Hilde Rosko, a dear friend and companion. Jim was a member of the Psi U fraternity, a former member of the Colonie Elks, and the Monarch Club of Albany. He was also a member of the American Dental Association and the Third District Dental Society of NY. He retired in 2004 and moved to Florida where he pursued some of his favorite pastimes, which included needlework, building radio controlled planes and boats, and miniature handcrafted furniture. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying small recreational aircraft. Jim enjoyed many years of camping with his family and friends. He was also a member of the Disney Vacation Club. He will be sorely missed by his friends in The Villages, FL, who often accompanied him to all his favorite dining spots. He succumbed to cancer after a short but heroic battle. Visitation hours will be held at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9 in Clifton Park, NY 12065 on Thursday, January 19th from 3-7. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20th at Emerick Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Jonesville Cemetery, Jonesville, NY in the spring. The Family extends their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the many caregivers and friends who gave of their time to make Jim happy and comfortable, especially Gwendolyn Stewart , who spoke with Jim daily and always offered words of encouragement along with good humor which was like medicine to him. Also, Itilya Hamilton, the Hospice aide who lovingly brought a smile and renewed strength to Jim during his most difficult days. Thanks go to all the Cornerstone Hospice staff members and dedicated caregivers who contributed so devotedly to Jim’s comfort.
