Obituary of Larry A. Rosenmann
Larry A. Rosenmann, 69, of West Sand Lake, NY, died Sunday, November 22, 2020 from Alzheimer’s disease, but is now rejoicing in heaven with his Lord and Savior, the Messiah, Christ Jesus!
Larry was born to the late Leon C. and Edith Rosenthal Rosenmann, and was raised and educated in Teaneck, NJ, graduating from Teaneck High School in 1969. He was well loved by his friends and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Here, Larry grew up learning the art of photography from his father, at Craftsman Studios. This was a passion that followed him all of his life, where in later years, he displayed his photos at various places, including Albany Center Gallery.
It was in high school that Larry began playing bass guitar, leading to his playing in a band. This, too, became an enjoyment that accompanied him through various stages of life.
Following high school, he went on to become one of the first male students to attend Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. It was here that he met his future bride, Susie. They married in 1978. He went back to school at R.P.I., earning a master’s degree in Engineering Geology.
Larry and Susie wrote Christian songs together and sang at various venues, such as coffee houses, churches and parachurch organizations, because of their love for Jesus. Here, he became active in worship teams at Grace Fellowship, East Ridge Community Church and Loudonville Community Church, where Susie sang. Larry used his musical gifts until the effects of Alzheimer’s prevented his continuing.
One of Larry’s loves was that of the outdoors, involving hiking, fishing, watersports, and developing a passion for snowboarding. At home, he enjoyed gardening and landscaping.
He worked for 30 years as an engineering geologist for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, retiring in 2012.
Larry is survived by his wife, Susie; two children: Joshua Rosenmann of Castleton and Libby Rose of Troy; a brother, Carl Rosenmann of NYC, and a sister, Janet Ellison of Miami, FL.
Larry loved his children! He enjoyed them, and engaging in all of their activities and fun things, together. Every year, the family looked forward to going as a family in S.E. Florida. He was a great father, who was always there for his kids!
He and Susie were married for 42½ years, and he considered his wife his best friend and loving partner. He was a faithful, loving, compassionate husband to his wife, Susie.
Larry believed in the philosophy of: God first, his wife, his children and, then, the world in general.
His family is grateful for the wonderful care he received at the Van Rensselaer Manor and the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeast New York, especially Erika Salimeda.
When the current health situation allows, there will be a celebration of Larry’s life, to be announced.
