Obituary of Leo P. Brassard
Leo P. Brassard, 95, of Port Saint Lucie, FL (formally of Bolton Landing, NY), peacefully entered into eternal life on January 4, 2021. Leo was born in Cohoes, NY on November 3, 1925, the son of Leo P. Brassard and Victoria Bariteau Brassard. He was a graduate of LaSalle Class of 1944. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII in the Pacific theater. Leo spent 41 years with Niagara Mohawk before retiring in 1988.
On August 7, 1960, he married Betty Baker Brassard. In 1982, Leo and Betty moved to beautiful Bolton Landing, NY on Lake George where they lived until 2015. When blankets of snow and ice covered their lake view, Leo and Betty took off to Florida where they spent their winter months as “snowbirds.” They were married for nearly 57 years until Betty’s passing in 2017.
Leo is survived by his three children, Tracy Rufo (James), Deborah Holle (David), and Michael Farnam (Sandra). He was also the beloved “Papa” to 5 grandchildren, Mary Rufo, Lindsey Cossman (Adam), Daniel Farnam (Jeanie), Sean Farnam (Jennifer), Kaitlyn Bryant (Jared), and 10 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister-in-law Clara Baker, niece Bonnie Baker, nephew Charles Baker (Judy), and good friend Dianne Attey.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Transfiguration Parish (formerly St. Bonaventure's Church, Speigletown), 50 Hillview Dr., Troy, New York 12182.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, New York 12182 on Monday April 5, 2021 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Interment with military honors will be held in St. John's Cemetery, Lansingburgh.
Attendees of any of the services must wear a facial covering, observe social distancing and understand that there are capacity limits which must be followed.
