Obituary of Edward J. Snyder
Edward J. Snyder, 101, of Solomon Ave. died on Tuesday Feb. 9, 2021 at the Slate Valley Center of Rehabilitation and Nursing. He was born on Nov. 18, 1919 in Cohoes, NY and was the son of the late Adam and Anna Gorka Sujecki (Snyder). Ed was a US Army veteran of WWII having served honorably from 1943 - 1945. He had been a machinist for GE in Schenectady for many years. Ed was a private pilot, and over the years he built his own 3 planes. One of his planes is in a museum in Florida. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Assn. Ed also was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps of the Adirondack's and had been a faithful worker at the CCC camp prior to the war.
He is the beloved husband of the late Gabrielle Langlais Snyder who died on Jan. 21, 1993. He is the devoted father of Edward D. Snyder of Clifton Park, NY and Judith Christensen of Colonie, NY; cherished grandfather of Richard Snyder, Pamela Schorr, Ole Christensen, III and Kathleen "Katie" Pippert; also survived by 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 am in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065. A calling hour from 10:30 - 11:30 am will precede the service. Interment with full military honors will be in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
