As we celebrate the life of Jerry, it goes without saying that he touched so many, many lives. Our daughter Bre is an example of his Mentorship; Jerry encouraged her to become a coach in the Clifton Park Girls Basketball program and in the Saratoga Sparks AAU Basketball and supported her at every game. Jerry modeled “giving back” in everything he did, his selflessness will be missed because no one was more giving of themselves then him. To the Holland Family: I came to know your Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Uncle, Best Friend about 6-7 years ago in Park Lane. From the day I met Jerry I knew he was one in a million. He made you feel like you were special and once he got to know you, there was nothing Jerry would not do for you including take you on high speed car rides! He was a true gentleman who loved his family and who would take the shirt off of his back and even throw his golf club into the fairway if he had a bad shot (what a blast!). Anytime he walked into the lounge, whether it had 3 people or 30, he would go to each person, shake their hand and say "How you doing fellas" , say hello and introduce himself without fail to those he did not know. Not to mention that Jerry was very generous with anything he had, especially his bourbon! We lost a great mentor, community man, friend, and inspiration. May his soul RIP and may your family find comfort in knowing that Jerry had such a positive impact and influence on so many. Godspeed.

Jerry and I went through the NYSP Academy together. His very distinctive voice became a familiar part of our experience as he liked to ask questions. Regularly. I would say that Jerry was one that most everyone in our class of almost 180 will never forget, he became synonymous with our time there. We were both Session leaders so I got to spend time with him away from the crowd. Jerry was a concerned and caring guy, and a true Gentleman. Rest in Peace Sir.

We were neighbors, friends & parents of once teenagers. I respected Mr Jerry because he was such a family man & cared deeply about his community. He was always there for anyone that needed help. We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Jerry. Jerry was a true gentle giant who always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by all of those that were lucky enough to know him. He did so much for Clifton Park girls basketball. It was an honor to work with him as a board member. I believe that the success of the Shenendehowa High School girls basketball teams is directly related to his leadership and dedication in Clifton Park girls basketball programs -- recreation, travel, fall-ball and Sparks AAU. The amount of time Jerry spent on these programs could equate to a second job. Jerry will be missed.

There is so much I’d like to say. If you look at his phone and see Giovanni, you will know the relationship we had. I loved Jerry as a friend, brother in Law Enforcement and someone I inspire to be one day. Jerry was one of the few people that I would listen to and take his advice to heart or his opinion on any matter. My wife said he was someone that truly cared what you had to say and showed a genuine interest in you. That was from one day on the deck with the fellas having a Cigar. Probably was one of the first times a write woman cut his hair :) lol.
The love he had for his family, his wife, children, grandchildren was so admirable. I’m not sure why God wanted to take him from us, but the world lost a good human being and I lost a brother. To all of you I can only imagine how you feel and words will never articulate my true feelings for all of you. I mean this, if there is anything ever needed please never hesitate to contact me. I’m so sorry for your loss.

I met Jerome after we both were retired from the NYSP, and he was my boss at the newly formed Guarded Exchange office. The best of the best,& I told the younger hires that if in their future they have as great a boss as Jerome, they will be extremely lucky. I added it was unlikely. The job wasn’t for me, but I’ll remember Jerome for his fairness, support as a supervisor ,& just being among the best I’ve ever worked for and with.
