Obituary of Jatinder Kumar Nepal
Jatinder Kumar Nepal passed away in his home on Friday, July 2 surrounded by his family. He warmed hearts with his sweet smile to the end as he courageously fought to recover from the stroke he suffered in October 2020, the day after his 80th birthday.
Jatinder was a devoted husband, father, and mentor to an enormous circle of friends and family who counted on him for his guidance and support, which he always delivered with compassion and a gentle sense of humor.
Born in Lahore in 1940, Jatinder spent his early life in India. He immigrated to the United States in 1969 and proudly became a naturalized American citizen in 1975. He retired after more than 30 years as a civil engineer with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, where he worked to preserve the waters of the state he loved so much. After retirement, Jatinder travelled the world, bought countless donuts and ice cream cones for his four grandchildren whom he adored, and continued to emanate kindness to everyone he encountered.
Jatinder celebrated his 49th wedding anniversary with the love of his life Seema last October. He was the most passionate advocate of Seema’s dream of being a business owner and he made her success possible every step of her way. He was a proud supporter of his two children, Reena and Rohit, whom he encouraged in their personal and professional endeavors.
The viewing and funeral service will be held on Thursday morning, July 8 from 10:30 to 12:30 at John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue, Troy, NY 12182.
Followed by a private cremation.
Religious services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Capitol Gurudwara, 301 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, NY 12144.
