Obituary of Gloria Alice Sommers

Gloria Alice Sommers, 77, of Clifton Park, NY, passed away peacefully in the loving care of her family on July 28, 2021.  Gloria was born in Rockville Center, NY on August 3, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Alex and Annette (Quenneville) Boken, Jr.  She was the beloved wife of William J. Sommers, whom she married on Sept. 2, 1967; devoted mother of William J. Sommers II of Porter Corners, NY and Michele Sommers Lindenmuth of Westfield, MA; sister of Paul Boken of S. Yarmouth, MA and Michael Boken of Mesa, AZ; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Gloria grew up in East Meadow and was a graduate of East Meadow High School on Long Island, NY.  She had worked for the former NY Telephone Co. in Garden City as an Information Operator and also worked for Teele Mitchell Builders in Clifton Park.  Gloria had a special affection for her “Bunco Babes”.  Gloria’s favorite time of year was the summer, when she was tending her flowers, sitting by the pool with her friends and family, and listening to good music with a glass or three of dry champagne.

Funeral will be held on Monday at 11:30 am in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.

Calling hours will be from 9:30 - 11:30 am prior to the funeral service.

Interment will be in Jonesville Cemetery, Jonesville, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to: Saratoga County Community Hospice, 310 S. Manning Blvd, Albany, NY  12208.
