Carol Dobreff

Obituary of Carol Marie Dobreff

Carol Dobreff, 76, of Grooms Road died on Wednesday August 4, 2021 at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady after a long illness.  She was born in Amsterdam, NY on Oct. 11, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Domenico and Angelina Aldi.  She was a graduate of Mont Pleasent High School and the Mildred Elley School in Albany.  She retired from Knolls Atomic Power Lab in Niskayuna after 12 years of service.

Carol’s family and friends were the cornerstone of her life.  She enjoyed sailing, downhill skiing, and camping with her family. Carol was active in the PTA in the Shenendehowa School District since her children began school, including PTA president of Okte.  She was the parent who was “everywhere” and could be found organizing and supporting many functions.  Carol was caring, generous and like a mom to many. Neighborhood children would gather at the house after school and you could often find her cooking for a kitchen full of friends. In her later years, she loved nothing more than making memories with her children and grandchildren.

She was the beloved wife of Peter Dobreff, whom she married on Sept. 22, 1973; devoted mother of Christine Mignone (Francesco) and Susan  Smothers (Stuart); sister of Robert Aldi; grandmother of Isabella, Jack, Lina, Logan and Mia.
