Obituary of Robert W. Missenis
Robert W. “Bob” Missenis, 81, of Lansingburgh, beloved husband of the late Rita M. MacDonald Missenis, entered into eternal life on Sunday, November 14, 2021.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late John B. and Eleanor E. Price Missenis and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and his Honorable Discharge.
Mr. Missenis retired from Freihofer Baking Co. in Albany where he had been employed from 1976 to 2001. He had previously been employed with Ward’s Food (Tip Top) from 1962 to 1976.
Bob loved hunting, fishing and cooking. He was a member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh, Stillwater American Legion, Pleasantdale Rod and Gun Club and attended St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh.
Devoted father of Robert (Christina) Missenis of Malta, Richard (Bridgette) Missenis of Albany, Deborah Missenis of Stillwater, Laurie (Vincenzo “Jim”) Gulli of Clifton Park and Texas and Russell (Kristin) Missenis of Clifton Park, cherished grandfather of Michael (Jennifer) Missenis, Cameron Missenis, Jordan Missenis, Jessica (Christopher) Austin, Carter Gulli (Angelina Purcell), Cody Gulli, Logan Missenis, Gabrielle Missenis and the late Nicholas Vinehout, adored great grandfather of Brianna Austin, stepfather of Barbara (Mark) Cady and Janice (Gordie) Johnson, also survived by several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his siblings; John J. Missenis, DVM, Lawrence P. “Larry” Missenis, James B. Missenis, Carol Davenport and Jean Collette.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, New York 12182 and to the Funeral Service in the funeral home on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m.
Interment with military honors will follow at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
