Obituary of Helen P. Kirk

Helen P. Kirk, 94, beloved wife of over 67 years, Neal F. Kirk, entered into eternal life on  Thursday, Thanksgiving Nov. 25, 2021 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

Born in Cohoes, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Plumley Chagnon and was a graduate of Cohoes High School, Class of 1945.

Mrs. Kirk was a homemaker. Prior to raising her family, she had been employed by the NYS Purchasing Department and by the Watervliet Arsenal.

She enjoyed quilting, knitting, was an avid reader, had been a member of the Clifton Park Seniors  and had been a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Ballston Spa. She enjoyed volunteering in various schools and with the historical society.

Beloved wife of the late Neal F. Kirk, who died on Feb. 22, 2017.  She is the devoted mother of Cynthia L. (James) Christiansen of Clifton Park and Neal J. (Donna) Kirk of East Hampton, CT; cherished grandmother of Neal Patrick (Ginneane) Kirk of East Hampton, CT; sister of the late Richard Chagnon.

Funeral will be held on Wednesday Dec. 1, 2021 at 9 am at St. Mary’s Church in Crescent where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.   

Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Tuesday in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.   

Interment will be held in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.

Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 295 South Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12202, in memory of Helen P. Kirk.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the Staff at  Eddy Heritage House in Troy along with the Dr’s, nurses and staff at the Samaritan Hospital.  Especially to Courtney, Gillian, Randie, Shelby, Hannah and Maria.
