Obituary of Harvey J. Lanthier
Harvey J. Lanthier, age 81, died at home on Jan. 26th surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Cohoes in 1940, he was the eldest son of Harvey (Pat) Lanthier and Alice Freebern. He was educated at St Marie’s and Keveney Academy in Cohoes.
He joined the Air Force in 1958 and served in Libya, France, Italy and Germany and was honorably discharged in 1962.
He is survived by his loving wife Sarah whom he wed in Ireland 50 years ago. They raised their family in Halfmoon, NY.
He is fondly remembered by his children, Karen (Todd) Desnoyers, Stephen (Cherie) Lanthier and Ryan (Melissa) Lanthier, and his grandchildren, Raina, Ryan and Rachel Desnoyers, Bria Lanthier, and Jane and Jack Lanthier.
He is predeceased by his sister Hazel Danko (Bud), and is survived by his sister Carol Moryl and brother Dennis (Linda) Lanthier, and several nieces and nephews.
He loved to travel and especially loved his family trips to Disneyworld and his summer visits to York Beach, Maine. Over the course of their marriage, he and family members made several trips back to Ireland but his favorite city was Paris.
He worked at Cohoes Carrybag, Ford Motor Co and eventually retired from Enterprise.
He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, playing Pinochle and the occasional visit to the Racino. He was a member of the Boght Sportsman Club, the American Legion and the VFW.
Relatives and friends may call at Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065 on Monday, January 31 from 4-7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1 in St Mary’s Church in Crescent. Burial will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga a National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
