Obituary of William P. Jenkins

William P. Jenkins, 91, of Ballston Lake and formerly of Menands and Syracuse, NY died on Tuesday Feb. 8, 2022 at Kingsway Arms in Schenectady after a long illness.  He was born on Jan. 14, 1931 in Syracuse and was the son of the late William E. and Mary I. Nolan Jenkins.  Bill graduated from St. Vincent de Paul High School in Syracuse in 1949 and LeMoyne College in 1953.  A multi-sport athlete during high school, he very much enjoyed playing basketball for LeMoyne.  An avid sports fan and participant all his life, he volunteered and coached basketball at St. Brigid’s Church and School in Syracuse, played volleyball and other sports at the Solvay Youth Center, and bowled for the University Club in Albany.  After college, Bill enlisted in the US Army and played basketball for the army while stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey.  He was the owner of Albany Tile Supply in Albany for over 25 years.  He was also a member of the Colonie Lodge of Elks and a communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake, NY.

He is the beloved husband of Susan Lewis Jenkins and the late Elizabeth M. Jenkins; devoted father of William R. (Sarah) Jenkins; stepfather of Robert (Debra) Lewis, Thomas (Charmaine) and Deborah (Daniel) Boghosian; cherished grandfather of Abigail (Nathan) and Catherine Jenkins; brother of the late Beverly Zavalauskas; also survived by several step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bill’s funeral will be Saturday morning at 9:00 AM at Corpus Christi Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

There will be no calling hours.  Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 40 N. Main Ave. Albany, NY 12203.
