Obituary of Loris K. Martin
Loris K. Schroeder Martin, 82, formerly of Clifton Park, beloved wife of the late Francis T. "Frank" Martin, peacefully entered into eternal life on Friday, March 25, 2022, at the N.Y.S. Veteran's Home at Montrose in Cortlandt, N.Y.
Born in Huron, SD, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth A. and Blanche E. Oakland Schroeder; and the beloved wife for 57 years of Francis T. “Frank” Martin who she married on October 27, 1962, at St. Joseph's Church in Albany. She was a graduate of Watertown High School in Watertown, SD, class of 1957 and St. Luke’s Hospital Nursing School in Aberdeen, SD.
Mrs. Martin honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962 as a second lieutenant at Walson Army Hospital in Ft. Dix, NJ where she was an R.N.
Loris retired from Ossining Open Door in Ossining, NY where she was an R.N. She had previously been employed as an R.N. by the NYS Dept. of Corrections at Bedford Hills in Bedford Hills, NY.
Mrs. Martin's hobbies and interests included exercising at the YMCA , actively and enthusiastically following the vast and varied activities of her children and grandchildren, and traveling the world with Frank and other family members and friends. She enjoyed her many friendships established throughout her life keeping all close to her heart. She loved gathering with family and friends to celebrate any occasion.
While residing in Clifton Park, Loris was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church.
She is survived by her devoted children, Thomas (Leslie) Martin, Donna E. (Joseph) McCrudden, Sheila A. (Robert) Sincero, Carol A. (Carson) Jacobs and Tracy E. Martin; her brother Mark (Linda) Schroeder and sister-in-law Lois Schroeder, loving grandchildren, Luke and Ethan, Kailey, Ryan, Martin and Tara, Robert and Jessica, Meghan and Carson, Nicole and Alex, Justine, Brendan, and Liam; adored great-grandchildren Braxton and Zoey; and also survived by her cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first born child Kevin, brother Kenneth Schroeder, sister Donna Lindner, and Grand Niece Chanille Grigsby.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Edward’s Church in Clifton Park and to the Mass of Christian Burial in Church which will be celebrated that morning at 11:30 a.m. and followed by interment with military honors at 1:30 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
