Robert E. “Bob” Bennett, Ed.D, 90, of Halfmoon passed away peacefully on Saturday August 6, 2022 at St. Peter’s Hospital with his wife by his side. He was born on July 21, 1932 in Modena, NY and was the son of the late Edward and Maude LaForge Bennett.
He did his undergraduate studies at Harper College, currently SUNY Binghamton, received his master’s degree from SUNY New Paltz and his Doctorate in Education from Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Bennett had been a teacher, administrator and retired from the Franklin Central School District as Superintendant.
He loved to travel, visiting throughout the US, Europe, Asia and Africa. He was an avid reader, had a great sense of humor and always carried a positive outlook on things. Bob was a man of strong convictions. During his working years, he most enjoyed his time spent in the classroom. He reflected on the Apache Blessing. “May the sun bring you new energy by day. May the moon softly restore you by night. May the rain wash away your worries. May the breeze blow new strength into your being. May you walk gently through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life.” May we all consider this.
He is the beloved husband of Judith M. Bennett, whom he married on August 17, 1968 and brother of the late Howard and Earl Bennett.
Funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family from the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
