Obituary of Margaret Kealy Cody
After a long illness, Margaret (Kealy) Cody of Clifton Park, NY, known to her loved ones as “Peggy,” passed away peacefully on Monday, August 29, 2022 at Our Lady of Mercy Nursing Facility, at the age of 89. Born on June 4, 1933 in County Galway, Ireland, Peggy emigrated to the U.S when she was 17. In addition to the loss of her parents and various siblings and other relatives, she was predeceased by her husband, Edwin J. Cody, and two of her sons, Edwin M. Cody, and Michael J. Cody.
Peggy is survived by an extended family that includes her siblings, Mortimer (“Murt”) Kealy of Purdys, New York, and Sadie (Kealy) Connelly of Loughrea, Ireland, as well as her remaining children, William F. Cody of Cortez, Colorado, Nancy M. Cody of Lewes, Delaware, John C. (Karen) Cody of Delmar, NY, and Carol D. (Daniel F.) Cody-Brady of Marlboro, Massachusetts. She leaves behind, as well, two beloved grandchildren, Hallie (Will) Cody-Wang of Queens, NY, and Julia Cody of Delmar, NY.
Not surprisingly to those who knew her, Peggy stayed cheerful throughout her illness, praying, smiling, and singing with her family until the very end. She sang that, “Everything is Beautiful,” and spoke of growing her wings and soaring through the skies as a “freebird.” Looking upwards, we believe that is where she is now. The Cody family would like to thank those patient care staff of St. Peter’s Hospital, Sunnyview Hospital, and Our Lady of Mercy, who extended to Peggy their care and kindness.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date, as well as interment in Greenridge Cemetery, Saratoga Springs. There will be no calling hours. In the name of Margaret Cody, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Nursing Facility, 2 Mercycare Lane, Guilderland, New York 12084.
Arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065, 518-371-5454.
