Obituary of Raymond W. Gibson, Sr.
Raymond W. Gibson, Sr., 71, of Pleasantdale, beloved longtime companion of Sheila A. Culliton, peacefully entered into eternal life on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.
Born and educated in Troy, Raymond was the son of the late Raymond E. and Eva Mae Santoro Gibson.
Raymond served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Army Commendation Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star.
Raymond had been employed at Hannaford in Latham, at TriCity Rentals, the Watervliet Arsenal and at GardenWay. He was raised and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Troy.
He was an avid motorcycle rider, loved his tattoos, fishing, hunting, model building, flying kites and bowling in the Hilltop Bowling League. He loved to ride with his brother Tommy and their friends.
Devoted father of Amanda (Brandon Lawton) Gibson and Christopher R. (Lisa) Gibson who are survived by their mother Rebecca Wheeler, Raymond W. Gibson, Jr., Jason Gibson and the late Kerri Gibson, stepfather of Joseph ( Susan) Culliton, Julia (Culliton Gibson (Lee), Stephanie (Larry) Flanagan and Sara (Jason) Humphrey, brother of Edward (Nedda) Gibson, April (late Hubert, J., Jr.) Muckle, Robin (Gerald) Kehn and the late Thomas (wife Terry Ann) Gibson and the late Susan (late John) Majer, cherished grandfather of Connor, Alexus, Joseph, Andrew, Nathaniel, Natalie, adored great grandfather of Cameryne, dear nephew of Dolores Ragosta and Frank V. Santoro, also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and their families.
Relatives and friends are invited to Raymond’s Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by the celebration of Raymond’s life beginning at 11:30 a.m. both on Monday, September 12, 2022 in the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Ave (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182.
Interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
