Duane was an amazing guy. He was my best friend growing up for many years. Duane loved to fish and spent many hours over the years casting a line looking for that next lunker. We would take on the roles of TV pro fisherman Fishy Fullum and Virgil Ward and have contests to see who could catch the bigger one. Duane was also a great athlete especially as a skier. He was doing freestyle/aerial tricks like tip rolls, ballet, daffy’s and helicopters in the 70’s before it became a mainstream thing and was great at it. He also loved to snowmobile, ride dirt bikes, hunt and loved his Packers. And then there was music! Of all the things that motivated and inspired Duane growing up, playing the drums may have been number one. He played for years in local Upstate NY bands Onyx and then Dirty Art. He played a kit with a double bass which most drummers didn't do. We called him the Tama Terror and he developed a unique solo beat that his friends loved. His dream was becoming a rock and roll star like many of his music idols growing up. And it wasn’t just playing music that he loved. He attended many, many concerts over the years with his friends and knew a lot about the musicians he saw well before everyone was a Google expert. Autograph hunting was also something he liked to do and he collected a huge number of them. He was also really funny and was able to turn his perspective on run of the mill things into hysterical laughter. But more than all that, Duane was a unique and larger than life guy that will never be forgotten by anyone that knew him. I know I never will and for having known Duane I count myself as fortunate. Thanks Duane for being my buddy…
