Obituary of Rosemary J. Cosgrove
Rosemary J. Cosgrove, 80, of Brunswick, peacefully entered into eternal life in the loving comfort of her son Stephen on Monday, October 31, 2022 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn in Albany.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Helen Mossey Whitney and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1960.
Rose retired from a lengthy career at General Electric Silicones in Waterford where she was a Customer Services Specialist.
Rose was an avid golfer and enjoyed belonging to the Tuesday Night Mixed Golf League at Brunswick Greens, enjoyed crafts and was a member of the Friday Night Craft group for many years, volunteered at the Lansingburgh Boys & Girls Club, was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, the SpeigleElders and the Wednesday night group, enjoyed frequenting and the camaraderie at the Veteran’s of Lansingburgh, was a supporter of the Lansingburgh Historical Society, served as a Rensselaer County Poll Watcher/Elections Inspector and was a volunteer and communicant of Transfiguration Parish (formerly St. Bonaventure’s Church in Speigltown ) where she also served as President of the Ventura’s and had also been a member of their Women’s Club and loved playing mahjong with Midge Day, Kathleen Sanvidge, Rita Duncan and Mary Hurley. She loved to travel the world and would pack properly so that she did not need anything more than what was needed. She wasn’t 100% perfect in packing for her travels to Ireland and when she went shopping for what she would be short of, she let the clerk at the department store know that she was shopping so not to have to be “Going Rambo”. Rose immensely enjoyed the friendships that she developed with her friends, but more than anything else, being the proud mother and having her special relationship with her beloved son Stephen with who she shared great joy golfing three rounds a year; on Mother’s Day, Stephen’s birthday and her own birthday.
Beloved mother of Stephen F. “Steve” Cosgrove, devoted sister of Charles “Butch” (late, Carol) Anderson, Robert Patrick “Murph” (wife Patricia “Pat”) Anderson, the late Kenneth P. (late, Julie) Anderson and the late Marjorie (late, Gary) Charbonneau, also survived by 7 nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and two great grand nephews.
