Obituary of Darlene M. Johnson
Darlene M. Couser Johnson, 70, of Latham and formerly of Schaghticoke, NY and Chestertown, NY, peacefully entered into eternal life on Thursday, December 1, 2022 surrounded by and in the loving comfort and care of her family.
Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Marion Waldron Couser and was a graduate of Hoosic Valley High School. She was the beloved wife of James M. “Jim” Johnson who she married on April 22, 1972 in St. John’s Church in Schaghticoke.
Darlene had a very special vocation for serving others, including the elderly. Darlene had been employed by Northeast Health in Troy for over 30 years as a CNA and had also been employed at O’Connor’s Church Goods in Latham for a few years.
She was a longtime communicant of St. John’s Church in Schaghticoke (presently Transfiguration Parish) and was proud to have worked the Senior Citizen luncheons at the Church hall.
Beloved wife of over 50 years to Jim, devoted mother of James M. “Jimmy” (Janelle) Johnson, Jr., Jacqueline Johnson, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Murphy and Jessica (Floyd) Curtis, cherished “Gram” of Givonni Smith, Drasana (Asjid Parvez) Johnson, Amaree Smith, James M. “Jimmy” Johnson, III, Jillian Johnson, Kensington Murphy, Holland Murphy and Jackson Curtis, adored great “Gram” of Muhammad Afzal Parvez, Ali-Murtaza Parvez and Asjid-Mikael Parvez, loving sister of Terri (Raymond) Seymour, Edward (Carol) Couser and Joseph Couser, also survived by several nieces and nephews. Darlene was also eagerly awaiting the birth of her fourth great grandchild in March 2023.
Private funeral services will be held for Darlene’s family at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182.
There are no public services.
Darlene’s family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to her caregivers, the nurses, CNA’s and all of the staff at Glens Falls Hospital, Dr. Jacobs in Niskayuna for their wonderful care.
