Obituary of Staff Sgt. Robert Leon Bowman

Robert “Butch” Leon Bowman, 71 of Bruno Rd. passed away peacefully on Feb. 1, 2023 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Meshoppen, PA on April 10, 1951 and was the son of the late Robert D. and Gladys Roberts Bowman. Butch was a member of the first graduating class of Elk Lake High School in Dimock, PA and served honorably with the US Airforce, being discharged as a Staff Sgt. after more than 19 years of dedicated service. He was awarded the AF outstanding unit AWD with 4 Bronze oak Leaf Clusters, the AF Good Conduct Medal with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze star, the Vietnam Service Medal and the AF Overseas short tour Ribbon with Silver Oak. Butch retired in 1991. He was an active member of the American Legion Mohawk Post 1450 in Halfmoon. He loved the outdoors and spent time hunting and fishing as much as he could. Butch also loved bowling and softball. He played on a bowling league and volunteered as a softball umpire for many years.
He is the beloved husband of Yong Hui Kim Bowman whom he married on June 9, 1978; the devoted father of Brenda Cowles of Hudson, FL, Koren Dotson (Matthew) of Waterford, NY, Jin Pak (Sun Ae Kim) of Palisades, NJ and Pyong Kuk Pak (Bo Young) of Mahwah, NJ; brother of Pat Brackbill (Nelson), Terrie Taylor (Doug), Diana Wells (Terry), Gretchen Martin (Brian) and the late Alison Reaves; also survived by his 7 cherished grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and Butch was anxiously awaiting the arrival his 8th grandchild. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 noon in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.
Calling hours will be from 10-12 noon in the funeral home prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will be in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery 200 Duell Rd. Schuylerville, NY.
