To Family and Close Friends of Michael Harris Levine,
I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. I hope you continue to cherish all the good memories and moments shared with Michael. May the following words will be of great comfort to you during this time of bereavement: “[Almighty God] will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore…these words are faithful and true.” (Revelation 21:4,5)

Dear Levine family,
Mike was my counselor at camp, and I had the privilege of working on staff with him in 2010. He was one of the warmest people I've met and played a big role in me wanting to be a counselor myself. Mike never left me as a mentor. Years after my time at camp I posted about a book I was reading and Mike's response was to pick up the book and read along with me. Mike was a special human being. I'm so thankful to have had him in my life. I can only imagine what a wonderful support he has been for you all given the way he treated someone fairly small in his life like me. I remember while Mike read that book he told me that the script had flipped and he felt like I was his teacher, but I will always be learning from Mike and the way he treated the people around him. I am deeply sorry for your loss and your family is in my thoughts.
Warmest of thoughts,
Mike Patalano

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Levine & Family,
I learned of Michael’s passing while at work and was very saddened that the world has lost such a kind, caring, and intelligent young man. I remember Mike fondly as a bright and inquisitive student who took two of the lab courses that we teach here at the University. He always enjoyed the various challenges that our labs presented and was a pleasure to work with. He was very engaging and thoughtful, both with his fellow students and the staff and faculty within our department. You raised a wonderful son and it showed in every interaction I had with him. He was part of our University family and will be greatly missed.
On a deeply personal note please know that as parents facing unimaginable grief you are not alone. My wife and I lost our eldest daughter many years ago. If I could lift a fraction of the pain from your shoulders I sincerely would. Know always that the wonderful memories, light and love that were so much a part of Michael will forever be there for you.
Peace & Sincerest, Kindest Regards,
R. Scott Russell

Dear Fred and Sherry,
I'm deeply saddened by the sudden loss of your son. My sincere condolences to you two, to your daughter, and to your entire circle of family and friends. He sounds like such a wonderful young man. A tragedy. I have lost a niece and a nephew through the years, the pain remains. I can not even imagine the loss of my own son. I am assured Michael was as fine and open and loving as his parents. Your love will help you through the coming time.
I am so, so sorry.

Because of distance, we did not have the opportunity to know Michael as well as we would have liked to. But we do know what wonderful loving parents Michael was blessed with. All the memories we do have of Michael as a child, and as a Bar Mitzvah boy, are those of a happy healthy, giving child, who was a joy to his parents. We are distraught to learn of his passing. Our hearts are with Fred, Sherry and Kim.

Michael was a great friend and a great man. I remember playing together at his parents house as children helping him practice for LaCrosse, running to the basketball court in his neighborhood to play basketball with him and Aaron Armstrong. I also remember playing tennis with him on virtual boy and having sleepovers together at his house as children. As an adult he was intelligent and caring and loved and cared for his friends and family. He was always the life of the party and could never pass up an opportunity for a good laugh. He was a great friend and a great man and I am deeply saddened to see him pass at such a young age. Fred, Sherry, and Kim I love you all and love Mike very much as well and I am so sorry for your loss. Any support I can give please let me know as I am always there for you guys.
Love,
Jon & Mona Lonczak

I offer my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Michael. I was Mike's theatre technology instructor at the UofR. Mike was such an incredible Joy and Comfort to have around. He was the Theatre Program's Master Electrician for our productions. Not an easy accomplishment to say the least. But he exceeded at this and everything he did for us. He was always available, some how, when I needed him. I loved his sense of humor, his smile, his determination and most of all his friendship. I don't get to say that of many students, but it was a privilege to call Mike my friend. God bless you Mike, the world will miss you. With Love....Gordon

I'm just so shocked and devastated by this news. I was catching up with Mike over the December holiday and about a month ago via text. We lived in Drama House together at U of R and worked closely on various theater productions. He even opened his apartment to me once when I was in the Albany area to visit; he is such a kind, relaxed, fun guy. I was hoping to visit him again soon, I'm just speechless at the fact that I won't be able to. My deepest, deepest condolences to the family and his friends, I'm thinking of you all and you are in my heart at this time. -Stefania-

Mike was my roommate at May St. in Rochester during the 2007-2008 school year. I was so very saddened to hear of his passing. Though we didn't keep in touch, I think of him often and the things I learned from him. He was such a genuine person, so committed to his passions. My condolences to his family and close friends. Mike was quite possibly the kindest, most thoughtful person I ever met. I used to jokingly call him my guardian angel because he always seemed to know just when I needed to hear from him. His voice could make me smile no matter what. He was always the first to donate to my classroom whenever we needed funding for books or supplies and he always cheered my successes and consoled me in my defeats. There has truly never existed a better friend or human than Mike. Awhile ago, I made this blog post. I think it's a fitting tribute now: http://inbetweenthebubble.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-my-friend-mike-project.html?m=1

Watching Michael grow up from boy to man, he never stopped being one of the sweetest, nicest people you'd ever want to meet. I remember the great talk we had last Thanksgiving and thinking then how truly genuine he was. My heart is broken for what might have been but full for what he was. One in a million
