Obituary of Eleanor Marshall Manning
Eleanor Mary Marshall Manning, 74, of 4th Avenue in Lansingburgh passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 14, 2023 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a brief illness. She was born in Troy on May 28, 1948 and was the beloved daughter of the late John and Eleanor Mahar Marshall. She was a graduate of CCHS, Samaritan School of Nursing, and SUNY Albany where she received her bachelor's degree. Eleanor also received her Master's certificate. She was an accomplished author having published, "Voices, Mediation for care givers". El, as referred to by many, loved her family. She absolutely loved being a grandmother and her favorite holiday was Christmas. Her home was always open to all. Because of her exceptional nursing knowledge, Eleanor's home was known as the "Kitchen Clinic". Many of her children's friends always said "she was their second mom". In her career, she delivered 35 babies. She was a woman of strong convictions. Her Catholic faith was at the top of the list in addition to her family. Eleanor was a lifelong communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh and she prayed the Rosary daily.
She is the devoted mother of Gretchen E. Manning of Swampscott, MA, William (Tracy) Manning of Glenville, NY, Eric (Nancy) Manning of Latham, NY and Christopher Manning of Lansingburgh; dear sister of Mark Marshall of Poestenkill, NY, Nancy Volks of Queensbury, NY, Cathy Biggs (Bill) of Speigletown, Mary Ellen (Fred) Armstrong of Saratoga, NY, Joann Theophel of Green Island and the late John G. Marshall; Cherished grandma to Michael, Tyler, Tommy and Dylan Manning; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Eleanor was predeceased by her former husband, Bill M. Manning.
Funeral will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Calling hours will be from 3-6 pm Sunday in the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. corner of 115th St. & 4th Avenue in Lansingburgh, (565 4th. Avenue Troy, NY12182).
Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy, NY.
