Obituary of Monica A. Colaneri
Monica A. Close Colaneri, 81, of 126th St., peacefully entered into eternal life on Good Friday, April 7, 2023.
Born in Fulton, New York, she was the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Katherine Kavanaugh Close and was the beloved wife of James V. Colaneri, who passed away on August 6, 2001. She was a graduate of
Monica dedicated her life to being a wife and mother to her three sons.
She retired as an Administrative Assistant from the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. in Lansingburgh where she assisted the funeral directors and support staff to provide the utmost of service to the families who called on them in their time of need. Monica was also a professional hairdresser for many years.
In retirement, Monica enjoyed assisting those who were in need as a member of the staff of Home Instead in Albany. She had also previously been employed as the Front Desk Receptionist at the Times Union.
Monica was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh where she was a member and served as Vice President of the Sacred Heart Sodality and a member of the Waterford Columbiettes Council #237. She was a volunteer crafter with the Rensselaer County Home Bureau and was also a volunteer of Project Linus which makes quilts and provides them to children with cancer.
Devoted mother of James V. Colaneri, Jr. of Poestenkill, Vincent S. Colaneri and Jeffrey J. Colaneri, both of Lansingburgh, sister of Mary C. Close of Rochester, Patrick (Brenda) Close of Old Fort, NC and the late S. James (Janice) Close of Winter Park, FL, sister-in-law of the late Lucille Colaneri and Nancy Close of Fulton, NY, “Granma Colaneri” to Jamie Colaneri, also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at Noon at St. Augustine’s Church, Lansingburgh.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., (Corner of 115th Street and Fourth Avenue), Lansingburgh.
Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery,
