Obituary of Eugene Cummings

Eugene “Gene” Cummings of Clifton Park passed away suddenly on April 24, 2023 at the age of 80.  Gene was a devoted husband, loving father, brother and uncle, and doting grandfather. 

Gene was born in Schenectady, NY on September 4, 1942.   He attended St. Joseph’s Academy and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1960.  He attended Le Moyne College and received his degree in Accounting in 1964.  Thereafter, he served in the Air National Guard in Scotia for six years.  Gene worked as an accountant within the General Electric Company (in New York, Massachusetts and South Carolina) for 30 years, before retirement.  

He is survived by his wife, Carmela, to whom he was married 50 years.  They have two children, Michael (of Tiburon, CA) and Erin (of Heathrow, FL), and three grandchildren, Griffin, Teddy and Christina.   His brother, Thomas, also lives in Clifton Park.

Gene possessed an indomitable sense of humor, was an avid sports fan, a devout follower of the Yankees and a voracious reader.  He will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be privately held on Friday at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.  There will be no calling hours.  Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Queensbury, NY.
