Obituary of Salvatore A. "Butch" Mauriello
Salvatore A. “Butch” Mauriello, 89, of Grafton, beloved husband of the late Shirley A. Harriman Mauriello, peacefully entered into eternal life on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 with his family by his side.
Born in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late Anthony and Amelia Suen Mauriello and spent his childhood in South Troy. He was a graduate of Troy High School where he was inducted into the football Hall of Fame.
Butch retired from the Troy Police Department where he served the citizens of Troy as a Police Officer. He also had been a bricklayer/mason and was a 64 year member of the Bricklayers Local #2 serving in many capacities including that of Business Agent and Field Representative.
Butch was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He was an avid and accomplished outdoorsman with a passion for fishing and hunting. Butch as everyone knew, had also been a master craftsman and could build or make anything imaginable. He built his own house for his young family in Sycaway in the 1950’s. He then built his current stone house in Grafton in the 1970’s. He kept his property in Grafton immaculate.
Butch was a communicant of Mission Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church in Grafton.
Devoted father of Deborah Mauriello Kanser, Geraldine Mauriello (Nick Hilt) and the late Anthony Mauriello, cherished “Poppy” of Nicole (Donald) White, Andrew J. (Jamie) Kanser III and the late John P. DeRouville, loving brother of Joan (Joseph) Mancinelli, Sharon (late, Bob) Kaminski and Jeff Mauriello, father-in-law of Andrew J. Kanser, Jr., also survived by 6 great grandsons, nieces, nephews, their families and cousins. Butch was predeceased by Shirley’s siblings; her twin, Betty (Harry) Oathout and by Edward Harriman and the late Ruth Bornt.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Calling Hour from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2021 at Mission Our Lady of The Snow Catholic Church, 31 Owen Rd., Grafton, NY 12082 and to his Mass of Christian Burial in Church that afternoon beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Interment will follow in Grafton Center Cemetery, Grafton.
