Obituary of Mary H. Lance
Mary H. Lance, 88 of Lansingburgh passed away peacefully on Sunday August 20, 2023 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. She was born in Troy on April 17, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Mary Seifridsberger Ryan. Mary was a graduate of St. Augustine’s School and Lansingburgh High School. She was the beloved wife of the late James E. Lance, Sr. who died on May 5, 1994. Mary had been the Administrative Assistant for the Edward Ryan and Son’s Insurance Agency in Lansingburgh for over 30 years. Mary was a lifelong and daily communicant of St. Augustine’s Church. She prayed the rosary daily and her faith was a very significant part of her life. She was very active in her children’s lives. Mary was a member of the Lansingburgh Independent Baseball League Women’s Auxilary. She will be forever remembered for her love of her family and her grandchildren.
She is the devoted mother of Timothy (Meg) Lance, Daniel (Janet) Lance, James (Bonnie) Lance, Jr., Patrick (Jeanne) Lance and Theresa Lance; cherished grandmother of Eileen Lance, James Lance, III, Dustin (Olivia Fedigan) Lance, Jacqueline Lance, Patrick Lance, Jr. Kathryn (Andrew) Hoffman, Christopher Lance and Kevin (Kylee Brand) Lance; step grand mother of Hon. Marc Pallozzi and Erik Poje; great grandmother of Vienna, Jaelyn, Cosette and Cillian Lance and Samuel Hoffman; sister of Judy (Joseph) Rizzo, Dorothy Sheldrick, Jean (Anthony) Bourdeau and the late Edward Ryan, David Ryan, Frederick Ryan, Patricia Moore, Catherine Malik, Helen Upton and Thomas Ryan; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday August 25, 2023 at 12 noon at St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh. Calling hours will be from 9:00 am till 11:30 am in the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. (Cor. of 115th. St. & 4th. Ave., 565-4th. Avenue) Troy, New York 12182.
Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Troy, NY.
To the amazing staff on B2 at the Van Rensselaer Manor who took exceptional care of Mom and became like a second family and to the nurses on the PCU floor at Samaritan Hospital who were the most caring and compassionate individuals to the whole entire Lance Family, we are forever grateful.
