Obituary of Joan B. Mancinelli
Joan B. Mauriello Mancinelli, 88, of Troy, beloved wife for over 63 years of the late Joseph F. “Joe” Mancinelli, peacefully entered into eternal life on Friday, October 6, 2023.
Born in Troy in 1935, she was the daughter of the late Anthony “Tami” and Amelia Suen Mauriello and was a graduate of Troy High School.
Joan’s high school years were spent working in her father’s Troy landmark restaurant, “Tami’s” on Spring Avenue. Mrs. Mancinelli retired after many years from the NYS Worker’s Compensation Board in Menands where she was a supervisor.
Joan was the true matriarch of her family, and she loved every minute they spent together. She enjoyed hosting parties and always made everyone feel welcome. Joan was well known for her phenomenal cooking and baking. She often held family cooking lessons in either one of her two kitchens…her “summer kitchen” being a favorite of the grandkids. Everyone went to her for a recipe, a tip, some advice or to indulge in whatever dish she made. She loved caring for her flowers and beautiful gardens, as well.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her everything. She was their beloved “Mima or Gram” and there was nothing more that she loved than having them at her house and caring for them.
Joan and Joe loved to travel and enjoyed trips with family, as well as their many friends.
Joan was a member of the Italian Community Center in Troy, often working hard cooking for large community events.
She had been a communicant of the former St. Paul the Apostle Church in Beman Park and the former St. Mary’s Church on Washington Park, both in Troy.
Devoted mother of Joseph A. “Joe” (Chris) Mancinelli and John M. (Andrea “Ange”) Mancinelli, cherished grandmother of Jaclyn (Tim) Larkin, Amanda (Jim) Nichols Danielle (Joey) Ziter, Nicholas “Nick” (Lee Church) Mancinelli and Erica Mancinelli, adored great grandmother of Giada, Luca, Isabella, Riley, Addie and Dylan, sister of Sharon (late, Bob) Kaminski, Jeff Mauriello and the late Salvatore “Butch” (late, Shirley) Mauriello, sister-in-law of the late Anthony C. “Dinny” Mancinelli, near and dear cousin of Gail (late, Sammy) Bizzarro, also survived by several additional cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street, Troy, NY 12180 on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life reception at 6:30 p.m. at Ryan’s Wake, 403 River Street, Troy.
The Mancinelli family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the amazing staff at Van Rensselaer Manor and Community Hospice.
