Obituary of Kathleen A. Riberdy
Kathleen A. Mahar Riberdy, 88, lifetime resident of Richfield St., Pleasantdale, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her family on Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Teresian House in Albany.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine Griffis Mahar and the beloved wife of just short of 60 years of Lawrence G. “Larry” Riberdy who passed away on February 9, 2017. Mrs. Riberdy was educated in the Lansingburgh schools.
Kathleen retired from the office of Troy Family Physicians in Troy and made a career working in the medical practices of Dr. Hugh Foley, Dr. Weiner and Dr. Charles Brendese.
All knew that Kathleen loved to gamble! Whether it was a trip to LasVegas, Atlantic City, to either Saratoga Raceway, “the track” or Racino, she loved the excitement and the thrill of being a winner. Most of all she loved being with her family.
She was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Lansingburgh.
Devoted mother of Kathleen (John) Weidman and Eileen S. Bronson, cherished grandmother and “Nanny” of Nichole Bronson, Joseph L. (fiancée Molly Livingston) Bronson, Jaime (Michael) Platt and Kelly (fiancé Houston O’Hea)Weidman, adored great grandmother, “Great Nana” of Aubrey and Adelynn Platt and Colton O’Hea, sister of the late Martin Mahar, Eleanor Marshall and twins William Mahar and John Mahar. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and their families.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 and to her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh.
Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Troy.
Kathleen’s family wishes to express their most sincere appreciation to the staff at Teresian House, Mt. Carmel Unit as well as to Community Hospice for their loving care that was provided to her and her family.
