Obituary of Madeline Margaret Longacker
Madeline M. Longacker, 75, Passed away peacefully December 28, 2023 with her family by her side. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was the daughter of Gerard F. and Kathryn Kennedy McDonald. She grew up in East Northport, N.Y. receiving a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Stony Brook and a master’s degree from SUNY Albany. She worked as a reading teacher for 20 years in the Mechanicville City School District.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Madeline was an avid reader, a crocheter and loved gardening. She was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park where she was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the parish Prayer Line and had taught religous education. She as a member of the Albany Charismatic Renewal for over 38 years and was a speaker at numerous Life in the Spirit Seminars.
She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Gerard A. McDonald. Madeline is survived by her husband John, her daughter Kathryn (Jeff) Durant, her son Kevin (Heather), grandchildren Madeline and Jacquelyn Durant, Ryan and Fiona Longacker and Kellen Leyh, her brother-in-law Warren Longacker, sister-in-laws Mary Longacker and Anne McDonald and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday Jan. 3, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road Clifton Park, NY 12065 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.
Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville, NY.
