JOSEPH A. GALLO
Joseph A. Gallo, age 90, of Saratoga Springs and Sunrise, Florida, and formerly of Lansingburgh, passed away peacefully in the early morning of December 31, 2023 with his loving family by his side.
Joseph was born in Troy, New York and was the son of the late Mario and Mildred (Cioffi) Gallo; he was the devoted husband of Jeanette A. (Meddis) Gallo. Joseph and Jeanette were lovingly married for 63 years. One of the last things he said to her was “I will love you always and forever”.
Joseph lived in Lansingburgh for many years until moving to Saratoga Springs after his retirement to enjoy life in his pool on Saratoga Lake. He attended Lansingburgh High School and was the owner/operator of Mario Gallo & Son which he ran tirelessly until his retirement. Joseph was a hard worker who always provided for his family. Joseph served as a partner and Assistant Vice President of Bonded Concrete since 1964.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in Troy, Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake and St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh. He was a prior member of the Watervliet Elks Club and an Honorary Lifetime Member of the C.R.A.B. Garrison Post #1954 in Troy. During the winter months when he was not working as a mason, he rehabbed apartments that he continued to own and rent at the time of his death. Joseph was proud to have been blessed with six daughters, all of whom live close by and were an integral part of his life. In his younger years, he enjoyed boating, fishing, snowmobiling and hiking with his girls. He also enjoyed fishing trips with his son-in-laws.
His legacy includes his six daughters Mary Jo (Michael) Drinkwine, Anna DeLisle, Rose (Robert) Moak, Jeanette Vartigian, Cathleen (Edward) Gorman and Marlo Goldey (James Phelps). He loved visits from his daughters and their families at their home in Florida where he and his wife spent the winter months as well as family gatherings at their home on Saratoga Lake. He has been blessed with 11 adoring grandchildren Joseph (Erin Lanahan) and Michael (Erica) Drinkwine, Angela Christensen (Matt) and Cameron (Taylor Palmer) DeLisle, Jonathan (Chelsea) and Micaela Moak, Lee and Jared Vartigian and Gianna, Bella and Ava Goldey as well as his great grandchildren, Madelena, Tyler and Cora Christensen, all of whom proudly called him Papa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his step grandchildren Matthew and Colby Phelps, Patrick (Lindsay) Gorman, Danielle (Jay) Welch and their three children Amelia and Elizabeth Gorman and Kyla Welch. In addition to his six daughters, Joseph had six sisters Rose Perrotto, Thomasine DeShaw (David Robinson), Carmaline Caliguire (Pasquale), the late Jean Blair, the late Anna Pettit and the late Marie Douglas.
His family would like to thank the staff of Saratoga Hospital Medical Group Hematology/Oncology, the caring nurses from CenterWell Home Health including Elaine, Amanda and Heather and the wonderful staff of Community Hospice of Saratoga County, including Nancy and Belinda.
