Obituary of Charlotte C. Harrington
Charlotte C. Harrington, 72, of Troy, beloved wife of the late Patrick K. Harrington, Sr. entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 after a brief illness with her family by her side.
Born in Troy, NY and a graduate of Troy High, she was the daughter of the late Charles Gilman and Frieda Bauer.
Devoted mother of Patrick Harrington “PK” (Maggie) and Lisa (Bill) Proctor, cherished grandmother of Benjamin, Vincent, Ethan and Breana. Sister of Clinton (Judy) Gilman, Coreen (Mike) Russo, Camille Zoucky, John (Cathy) Gilman, Frieda Osterhout, the late Cathy (Chucky) Hall, Chucky Gilman, Clifford (Mary) Gilman, Caran (Steven) Logan and David Gilman, “A second Mom” to Erik (Karen) Budrakey and Melvin (Debbie) Hathaway and “Grandma Char” to Nadia and Vladimir.
Charlotte was employed by Albany Public Market as a meat wrapper, where she met her lifelong friend Jackie (Pete) Mesko and was welcomed in and loved by the entire Mesko family.
After Charlotte retired, she began her favorite career as a full-time Grandma! Anyone who knew Charlotte knew her grandkids were her life! You could always find her bringing them to school, dances, baseball, plays, practice, Dr. appointments, you name it, her wheels were always spinning. Which is where she got her nickname “Hot Wheels” She never let her wheels cool down! Whether it be running to the market, or picking up an online order, she would always be the first one to offer to go run somewhere for you or to bring you somewhere.
When she wasn't being someone’s taxi, she loved playing cards and dice. You would find her playing kings in a corner, spades and poker with friends and she loved family game nights!
Charlotte loved to travel! One of her favorite places to visit was Las Vegas, where she would spend time with another one of her lifelong friends Mary (Jon) Gilbert. There she would spend time playing bingo and going to the casinos!
In the winter, she went to Florida to be with her sister Frieda. Where she would spend her days swimming and nights playing games at the clubhouse!
Charlotte was a people person! She loved being surrounded by friends and family!! If there was a get together or gathering, you could count on her to be there and bring her baked macaroni and cheese. It didn't matter if you hadn't seen her in 2 days, 2 years, or never met her before. Charlotte would be the first to strike up a conversation. You never felt left out when she was in the room. She had a special way to make everyone feel welcomed and loved!!
Charlotte was a woman who always gave more than she received. She was the most forgiving person and loved everyone. If you knew Charlotte, you were one of the lucky ones....
